What is Human Resources Planning & services?

The field of Human Resources combines administrative personnel functions, such as hiring, training, and other personnel issues, with performance management, employee relations and resource planning. The objective of Human Resources is to maximise the return on investment from the human capital within a business and to minimise financial risk. It is the responsibility of human resource managers to conduct these activities in an effective, legal, fair, and consistent manner

Scope of Human Resources Planning & Services

Based on a firm theoretical foundation in Human Resources Planning & Services (HRPS) and an appreciation of other business disciplines, this  program aims to provide students with the necessary skills, techniques and systems to manage people in India and internationally.

HRPS is critical to organizational effectiveness because it is about motivating people and team building in addition to the traditional personnel functions. The importance of HRPS is increasingly recognized by large and small business firms. This is reflected in the very competitive salary levels of HRPS posts, whether at entry level or for more senior positions.

With the internationalization of many business organizations, HRPS management positions at the regional level have expanded rapidly. This should provide excellent career opportunities for graduates trained in HRPS

Professional Development Program in Human Resources Planning & Services

PDP-HRPS prepares candidates for HR careers and industry and services. It develops capabilities in all the three domains- knowledge, attitude and competencies. The program is designed to:

  • Prepare well-rounded HR professionals
  • Emphasis on action and performance rather than concept and input focus alone
  • To develop competencies in managing change, uncertainty and complexity
  • Develop holistic business perspective

Key Features of the Program

  • Employment focused curriculum
    The program curriculum has been designed in consultation with the industry experts therefore making it industry-authnticated. The course content developed by the experts focuses more on the practicial aspects of the industry.
  • Industry experts as faculty
    Faculty from the industry are invited to take lectures. Real-life illustratons will be discussed in the class to give you a better understanding of the industry. In addition to these, case-study discussions, group activites, presentations and role-plays in the class will be conducted.
  • Students will be assigned projects in different companies which they will have to pursue simultaneously with the course
  • Program focuses on building good business and soft-skills
  • Assistance for Job Placement through our placement cell

Program details

The program is spread over 6 months.  Starting 11th August, 2008 classes for this course will be conducted on Mondays-Fridays from 5pm to 8pm. 100 sessions on various HR concepts will be offered during this period. Students will have the benefit of interacting with distinguished industry mentors, who along with internal faculty members will groom and guide them.
This program has 6 modules:

  • Introduction to Human Resources Planning & Services
  • Recruitment & Selection
  • Training & Development
  • Organizational Behaviour
  • Compensation & Payroll Management
  • Talent Management

Teaching: Teaching methodology will be learning centric and not teaching-centric. It would be interactive and participative involving role modeling and case studies, field work, business games, role-plays, simulation exercises, group discussions and structured and unstructured group work.

Evaluation: The evaluation system in PDP-HRPS is designed to foster healthy competition among the students. Through out the term the students will be tested on their ability to understand concepts, acquire techniques and apply them to problems in business organizations. There will be a mid-term and an end-term examination. The evaluation will be done by the faculty on an ongoing basis involving four components- student’s academic performance, participation in class, initiatives and project work. The weighted average of the marks earned by a student in all the four components would constitute his cumulative grade.

Faulty: All the faculty members are expert professionals from the industry.

Eligibility: Graduates (in any discipline) with minimum 45% marks.

Why is certification desirable: Certifications sets those with the credentials apart or above-those-without it. There are a number of advantages to seeking certification. Certification becomes a public recognition of professional achievement- both within and outside the profession. For many achieving certification becomes a personal professional goal, a way to test knowledge and to measure it against one's peers. Others see certification as an aid to career advancement.

PDP-HRPS certification shows that the holder has demonstrated mastery of  HR knowledge. Globalization is the defining political and economic force in the world today. It requires new ways of thinking and responding. For HR professionals, recognizing and understanding this phenomenon is fast becoming a job requirement. The purpose of the PDP-HRPS certification is to impart in you the mastery of the necessary knowledge to be successful in this worldwide marketplace. This certification will grant recognition to professionals who have met a stated level of training and understanding of the HR field.
