Program Objective

IMS Program is designed to train and certify you as a department manager. It is a comprehensive program that imparts you knowledge/skills to be successful as a department manager and build a long term career in retailing. While the program is sharply focused on the department manager’s role, it gives you a comprehensive overview of the retail sector and exposes you to other functions in retailing. Program Content

The program comprises four modules viz:

Module 1:  Retail Business Overview
This module exposes students to different retail formats, classification and typical structure of a retail store. It provides a comprehensive overview of retailing industry in India and across the globe.

Module 2: Understanding Customer
Students learn to observe consumer behaviour through store visits and classroom insights. They are introduced to the concept of segmentation, targeting and positioning across multiple store formats.

Module 3: Store Operations
This is the core module which comprehensively covers store operation from sales planning, merchandise management, standard operating processes and interface with other functions.

Module 4: Managing your Human Resource
Students learn to write job descriptions, conduct interviews, motivational techniques through simulated exercises and role plays so they are effective when managing staff in their departments. The module also covers regulatory, policy and procedural aspects of human resources management within departments.

Certification Criteria
Candidates will be granted the certification only if they fulfill the following criteria.

Requirements for IMS Certification in RSOM

• Education: Candidate must be at least a graduate or equivalent with minimum 45% marks.  The candidate should undergo the training program of IMS Proschool.
• Examination: The candidate has to pass the RSOM certification exam conducted by IMS Proschool.
• Experience: The candidate has to complete one year of work experience either pre or post Certification exam in case he/she is a graduate.

The total duration of the program is approximately 160 hours spread over a period of six months. Contact your nearest centre to know the exact class schedule and the program fees.

Note: IMS Proschool offers waivers and scholarships to deserving and meritorious candidates. To check your eligibility for waivers, kindly contact your nearest IMS Proschool Centre. Please note enrollments done online are not eligible for any waivers.

The program is currently being offered only in Mumbai and Pune.

Admission Cycle

The program commences twice in a year in the month of April and October.
